Farsley AFC defender James Riley is set for a lengthy spell on the side-lines, writes James Grayson (Twitter: @jamesAgrayson).
Riley has been out of Farsley’s side since the beginning of October because of a ongoing shoulder problem. He did return to the fold for the last two games with Radcliffe Borough and Burscough as a substitute, but only as favour due to Matt Dempsey’s suspension.
Farsley boss Neil Parsley said: “Rilo needs an operation, he needs shoulder reconstruction.
“He’s been helping us out in the last two games and nothing has changed with Rilo.
“He will have a shoulder operation and he goes for an assessment on the 6th November with the surgeon. The surgeon will decide when he can do the operation.”
Dempsey and Simeon Bambrook are back for Saturday’s trip to Padiham which could also see club captain Robbie O’Brien return to the starting line-up after an ankle injury.
Anthony Lloyd is still on his break from the club for personal reasons and Parsley, whose men who are third in the Evo Stik Division One North table, expects a tough game against a side they beat 4-1 in September.
“I thought they were a decent footballing side and they had a good result at Curzon on Monday,” he said.
“It’s a difficult game.
“I’m really pleased with the start we have made along with the one or two additions we have made while the season has been going. We have healthy competition for places and I think we’re competitive at this level.”
