Glasshoughton Welfare chief Rob Hunter had “no complaints” over Liam Tuck’s red card in the 3-0 victory over Lincoln Moorlands Railway yesterday, writes James Grayson.
Tuck was given a second yellow card following a confrontation with Lincoln forward Patrick Siba midway through the second half.
The midfielder will now miss the home game with Albion Sports on November 16th. Tuck is already set to miss one match after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season at Basford United last week.
Hunter said: “He got a really harsh yellow card in the first half did Liam and I didn’t think he deserved it.
“In the second half it was a really bad foul by their number nine and Liam has reacted to the foul and he has them both a yellow card. To be fair, both players should have got a red.
“It was a strange decision by the referee to show yellow cards to both players.
“I’ve no complaints as such, when a player grabs someone by the shirt, he’s going to get a red card.
“But, it is just strange that he only gave him a yellow card along with their guy because their man deserved a red card.
“We’re now going to lose Liam for two matches because he’s already got a one match ban for five yellow cards.”
Tuck serves his initial one match ban for five cautions on Saturday when Winterton visit Leeds Road so is available for the League Cup First Round clash with Tadcaster Albion on Tuesday night.
Tadcaster are chasing glory Evo Stik Division One North football, but Hunter doubts that Tadcaster will field an understrength side, citing “I can’t see Paul Marshall resting any players against Rob Hunter and Mark Smitheringale”.
But, the former Tadcaster assistant manager admits that Glasshoughton are struggling for bodies.
He added: “We had seven players unavailable yesterday because of various reasons and I’ve now got another one who has said he can’t play on Tuesday because he’s away with his job.
“We’re down to the bones at the moment, but it’s a good changing room. The lads are working so hard for each other and you never know what you might get in a cup match.
“Tadcaster didn’t smash us when they came here a couple of weeks ago. It was 2-0 and the first goal was a terrible mistake when there was nothing in the game.
“Who knows? Tadcaster won’t get it easy on Tuesday night. You try and win any game and it would be lovely to win this cup game.”
Alex Low, Kieron Corley and John Hirst are expected to return to the side after missing the visit of Lincoln.
