James Beaston is facing a three match ban
Rob Hunter is set to bring reinforcements into his threadbare Glasshoughton Welfare team, writes James Grayson.
Glasshoughton lost 2-1 to Albion Sports at Leeds Road today to end a four match Toolstation NCEL Premier Division winning streak.
Dalton Harris may have continued his hot-streak with a goal, but his side is down to the barebones. Highly-rated left-back Dave Ward has been ruled out for the season, while Joel Freeston and Grieg McGrory are also on the treatment table.
James Beaston is facing a three-match ban for his red card in the Armthorpe Welfare victory and club captain Darrell Young is on the periphery of a two-game suspension for ten yellow cards.
Hunter said: “I’ve put seven days in on about five players in the last few weeks because I knew we would be losing a few players.
“We’ve also got John Hirst going to Australia in December for the rest of the season so the squad is a little bit depleted. We lost Calum Ward, Darol Lucas and we’re going to lose our central midfielders through suspension.
“The squad is all of a sudden going from 17 or 18 and down to 13 or 14. I do need to look at bringing a couple of new players into the squad, certainly a central midfielder and another centre-half.”
Paul Marshall’s beard is set to get even hairier after leaders Tadcaster Albion won 4-0 at Pickering Town.

Liversedge lost 1-0 at Basford United, while a late William Hayton goal earned Nostell Miners Welfare a point in their 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Winterton Rangers.
Selby Town continue to charge up the Division One table like a juggernaut after Ian Dring’s side beat Hallam 4-0 – Nathan Kamara, Danny Gray (2) and Louis Blackwell scored.
Ash Flynn scored all four as Shaw Lane Aquaforce beat Rossington Main 4-1.
Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth Miners Welfare lost 2-1 at Clipstone. Adam Wilson scored a late consolation for Hemsworth.
In-form striker Marcus Edwards scored two and missed a penalty as Eccleshill United beat Yorkshire Amateur 3-1.
Knaresborough Town drew 2-2 at Dronfield Town and despite Tom Agus’ early goal, Pontefract Collieries were held to a 1-1 stalemate at Teversal.
Hall Road Rangers celebrated a 3-0 victory at Worsbrough Bridge – Chris Adams (2) and Matthew Crane scored.
Bridlington Town are through to the FA Vase third round after an extra-time penalty from Joel Sutton earned them a 1-0 win at Athersley Recreation.
Thackley needed three late goals to secure their passage in the 4-0 over Armthorpe Welfare. Matthew Hall had fired Lee Clapham and Dave Morgan’s side ahead on the hour before Chris Davey, Brendan Maltby and Matthew Mathers sealed the win.
