Head coach Graham Nicholas is urging his Garforth Town fringe players to make a name for themselves at Bridlington Town tomorrow night, writes James Grayson.
Nicholas is likely to make a few changes from the team that drew 3-3 at Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday. His Leeds Met University players are unavailable as expected due a University fixture so Nicholas will call upon those who are on the threshold of his starting line-up for the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash.
“I don’t know what team I’ll be putting out, but it will be a tough game,” he said.
“It’s a midweek game and a long way to travel, but everyone who puts on a Garforth Town shirt knows the expectations and knows they have to step up and play well.
“The Leeds Met lads have a cup match so it will be a makeshift squad, but I believe in all the players I have signed.
“They have to put on the Garforth shirt and show that desire, the pride and determination.
“They don’t want to be looking at the Leeds Met lads and say ‘oh the Leeds Met lads are back so that’s my shirt gone’. I want them to be staking a claim for a place.
“I say it all the time, no-one is guaranteed a shirt. They have to earn the right.”
