Gary Stohrer has left Garforth Town and joined Evo Stik Division One North side Ossett Town.
Stohrer’s future has been up-in-the-air since last week when Ossett put their seven days’ notice in for the full-back.
Stohrer joined Garforth at the beginning of the season and memorably scored the goal that beat Ossett in the Nostell Tournament final – a strike that will have been embedded in Town boss Craig Elliott’s head.
Stohrer captained the Miners on a few occasions and scored twice.
Garforth head coach Graham Nicholas had wanted to keep Stohrer and he tweeted: “Really disappointed to lose Gary Stohrer to Ossett Town!
“He’s a fantastic player that is capable of playing higher! I wish him all the best!”
Nicholas has made one signing by finally recruiting former Farsley AFC midfielder Ryan Carr.
The Newcastle-born Leeds Met University student played for Farsley during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, but has been without a club since the start of the season.
Carr is expected to go straight into the squad for the trip to Staveley Miners Welfare tomorrow.
On a busy day for transfers, Tom Taylor has re-signed for Farsley AFC after two years away.
The goalkeeper signed for Ossett Town in the summer, but failed to hold down a regular place and has been playing for his old club Brighouse Town in the last few weeks.
His former team-mate at both Farsley and Ossett, Gareth Grant has dropped down to the Toolstation NCEL Division One and signed for Pontefract Collieries.
Striker Grant is in line to make his debut at Dinnington Town tomorrow.
