Three more points would make it is a very satisfying Christmas for Harrogate Railway chief Billy Miller, writes James Grayson (Twitter: @jamesAgrayson).
Harrogate are performing above expectations in the Evo Stik Division One North and only a week ago were sat on the threshold of the play-offs.
Miller is delighted with how the season has unfolded and has set his squad an aim that he wants them to achieve by the Farsley AFC derby clash on Boxing Day.
“I think we have got to be happy with how it is going,” he told Sports Performer.
“If you like at where we are league-wise, we’re doing alright at the moment. It is a difficult league to play in, no matter who is in the league.
“Ossett Albion are sitting at the bottom of the league, but they’re a good side. You can’t have an off day and two or three players who are not on song. Everyone has to be on-song.
“I think we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground. The next target for us is to get to 30 points by the time Farsley come to us on Boxing Day.
“In order to do that we have to play Ossett Town again in two weeks’ time and Salford on Saturday. We also have a little trip to a club called Warrington who aren’t doing too badly.
“We have probably got the best squad of players we have had for a long time, certainly in my reign at the club. If we can ticking over and picking up points, who knows where it may lead?
“When we came into the club we had a three-year plan. The first year was about keeping us in the league so we could establish ourselves as a management team. The second year was to try and establish ourselves in the league.
“What I don’t want is people to say ‘oh we’re going to Harrogate Railway and they are normally around the bottom of the league’.
“I want people to say ‘we’re going to Harrogate Railway and if we want to earn the three points then we will have to work our socks off’.
“We’re getting there, but we have to keep churning the results out.”
