Captain Robbie O’Brien held his nerve to score a last minute penalty for Farsley AFC and earn his side a dramatic 3-2 win at Radcliffe Borough and shoot them up to second in the Evo Stik Division One North.
It is Farsley’s fifth straight league win which Farsley had to work hard for. Eight months ago Farsley manager Neil Parsley trudged off the pitch at Radcliffe giving the referee a piece of his mind after the 2-2 draw.
The referee that turned down two stonewall penalty appeals in the final minutes which angered Parsley. However, in December it was ref Mark Cuncliffe who had the bottle to give Farsley their chance to win the game.
Aiden Savory had given Farsley an early lead before Bradley Robinson equalised. Matthew Landregan put Radcliffe ahead. Adam Priestley levelled the game minutes later on the half hour mark.
The game was heading for a draw until O’Brien, who earned praise from Parsley this week, intervened in the dying seconds.
Ossett Albion will bottom of the Division at Christmas after surrendering a first half lead. Albion had been playing well and had gone in front through winger Ryan Harrison.
But, Kendal responded and were soon winning 2-1. Ossett centre-half Wes Milnes was then sent off for a second bookable offence. Kendal sealed the win late on.
Wakefield lost 3-1 at Ramsbottom United. After going behind early on, Ferdinand Annor equalised for Wakey. But, Paul Lines’ side could not hold on and Ramsbottom ran out comfortable winners.
Scarborough Athletic stretched their winning eighth straight Evo Stik Division One South match by winning 3-1 at whipping boys Eastwood Town.
Ryan Blott needed a degree of fortunate for the opening goal on 11 minutes. Gary Bradshaw’s overhead kick fell nicely for the forward and he was able to finish.
Henry Sibenge gave Eastwood a brief respite with an equaliser, but Scarborough soon took the lead again – Blott scoring on 33 minutes with a wind-assisted strike.
Bradshaw maintained his recent electric form by scoring a penalty with nine minutes remaining.
Journey-man Karl Colley headed a late winner for Goole in their 3-2 victory over Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Ten man Frickley Athletic salvaged a point courtesy of a late goal in the 1-1 stalemate at Buxton.
With time running out and losing 1-0, Frickley had centre-half Sam Denton sent off for two cautions. Fortunately for Karl Rose’s side, Jake Picton was in the right place at the right time to equalise.
