Scarborough Athletic ensured their supporters got their money’s worth with comfortable 3-1 win at Goole in Division One South.
422 people were there to see the Boxing Day clash, but the Seadogs fans were up in arms over an unexpected admission price hike. Goole upped the entry fee from £7 to £9 which left them furious.
Fortunately Rudy Funk’s men turned the heat on Goole on-the-pitch and goals from Tom Davies and Chris Bolder gave them a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Vinny Mukendi pulled a goal back for Goole before Bolder scored again to seal the points. Athletic are one point away from the play-offs with two games in hand of fifth-placed Mickleover Sports.
Ossett Town were the winners in the Division One North derby clash with Ossett Albion at Dimple Wells.
James Eyles and Fernando Moke both struck twice to earn Town a 4-1 victory and the local bragging rights. Former Town captain Niall O’Brien was on the score-sheet for Albion.
Town have now won five league games on the bounce.
Wakefield FC’s trip to Darlington 1883 was postponed at the eleventh hour because of a frozen pitch.
Gavin Allott struck a dramatic last minute goal to earn Frickley Athletic a 4-3 win at Stocksbridge Park Steels in the Premier Division and their first away victory of the campaign.
Nathan Joynes gave Stocksbridge an early lead before Tyler Collishaw equalised. Danny South put the Steels back in front, but an Allott penalty and a Luke Hinsley strike ensured Frickley were ahead.
South then levelled for the Steels from the penalty spot and the game looked set to finish in a draw as it entered stoppage time. However, Allott had other ideas and he found space in the Steels penalty area before firing home the winner.
