Jimmy Reid is the new Selby Town manager

Jimmy Reid will take charge of Selby Town until the end of the season.
Selby have acted swiftly to replace Ian Dring, who quit on Monday, to ensure they have a side for Saturday’s Toolstation NCEL Division One clash with Clipstone.
Former Tadcaster boss Reid was controversially sacked by Pickering Town at the end of October – a decision that led to most of the team walking out on the Premier Division club.
Reid’s main defender at Pickering, Simon Sturdy, signed for Selby a few weeks ago and a Selby statement said: “Reid, arguably Pickering Town’s most successful manager, has taken the role at least until the end of the season.
“He will bring along Dean McAully and Steve Brown and says that there is plenty of points to play for and the club is still in the League Cup so the season is far from over.
“The aim is to finish at least in the top four and he is confident he can do it with one or two additions to a very good squad of players already at the club.
“Selby Town have been overwhelmed by the amount of applicants they have received for the position and they will remain confidential but it just highlights once again the high esteem people have for Selby Town Football Club.
“We hope all applicants understand if they do not get a reply but we had to act quickly in order that we can field a team this weekend.”
