Paul Lines’ Wakefield staged a remarkable comeback to draw 3-3 with Kendal Town
Wakefield FC came back from the dead to claim a dramatic 3-3 draw with Kendal Town in the Evo Stik Division One North.
Wakefield were trailing 3-0 with just 18 minutes remaining at Belle Vue. However, Lee Turner set the stage for a gripping finale as Kendal fell apart.
Rob Bordman got Wakefield’s second goal and then in the last minute, Joe Turfrey popped up with the sensational equaliser for Paul Lines’ Wakefield.
The result moves out of the bottom two and massive points clear of doomed Ossett Albion, who suffered a heart-breaking last gasp 2-1 defeat to high-flying Warrington Town.
Ben Grech-Brooksbank’s second half equalising goal looked to have earned Ossett a precious point, but Ashley Ruane popped up with the winner for Warrington at the death.
Farsley AFC remain on the heels of second-placed Warrington after a straightforward 3-2 win at Cammell Laird. Aiden Savory, Matt Dempsey and Lee Ellington were on the score-sheet for Farsley.
Ossett Town upturn in form continued at Burscough where Craig Elliott’s men ran out 2-1 winners. Jimmy Eyles gave Ossett the lead before a Burscough equaliser. Luke Sharry scored the decisive goal in the second half.
Harrogate Railway lost 2-1 at play-offs chasing Lancaster City – Nathan Cartman got Railway’s goal, his fourth in three games.
Scarborough Athletic’s play-offs hopes took a blow in Division One South as Romulas won 3-1 at Queensgate.
Ryan Blott’s 89th minute goal pulled the scores back to 2-1, but a further Romulas strike ensured the three points were heading back to the midlands.
Aaron Richard hit an 85th minute winner for Goole in their 3-2 win over Kidsgrove Athletic. Ben Good and James Cottingham had given Goole a 2-0 lead which they surrendered. A draw was likely until Richards intervened.
In the Premier, Frickley Athletic lost 2-1 at Marine and Stocksbridge were defeated 3-1 at Stafford Rangers.
In the NCEL Premier Division Tadcaster Albion suffered a rare defeat when they were beaten 5-3 at Basford United.
Taddy were trailing 4-0 at half-time in a game that was marred by a 21-man brawl when the scores were 4-1 on 71 minutes. Basford had a player sent off and Tadcaster goalkeeper Leon Wrigglesworth was also dismissed for his role in the fracas.
Two last minute goals from Mitchell Hamilton, son of former Garforth Town and Farsley striker Mark, reduced the arrears before Basford got their fifth goal.
Joel Sutton kept his nerve to score a last minute equalising penalty for Bridlington Town to earn his side a 3-3 draw at Athersley Recreation.
Athersley had been leading 3-1 through Kieron Scargill and Lee Bennett (2). Craig Palmer had scored for Bridlington at 2-1 and then Paul Wray ensured Gary Allanson’s men were still in the game.
Sutton then did his bit.
Thackley took full advantage of Tadcaster’s slip-up by winning 2-1 at Winterton Rangers – Nicky Matthews and Mike Garrod were the goal-scorers.
Gareth Grant scored for Pontefract in their 3-0 win over Hall Road Rangers
Pontefract Collieries remain in the hunt in the Division One promotion race after beating Hall Road Rangers 3-0.
Second half goals from Kyle Hawthorne, Gareth Grant and Chris Kamara proved the difference.
AFC Emley lost 2-0 at Rossington Main and Yorkshire Amateur were beaten 3-0 at home by Grimsby Borough.
