Drunken romances come back to haunt the characters of Garforth Amateur Dramatic Society’s next production in April.
In ‘Look Who’s Talking,’ by Derek Benfield, Brian (David Battersby) turns up unexpectedly for Sunday dinner at the home of Sheila (Anita Rushforth) and Andrew (Martyn Drake).
Brian had enjoyed a few glasses of wine with Sheila a week earlier – a night Sheila cannot remember and she has to create a web of lies to hide Bryan’s identity.
To add to the confusion, solicitor Andrew’s secretary Carole (Stephanie Selwood) appears and believes her boss had promised her a romantic trip to Italy at an alcohol-fuelled party.
The characters all have to cover their tracks which sets off a chain of misunderstandings during an enjoyable farce which will be performed at the Garforth Miners’ Welfare Hall.
The play will see Stephanie Selwood and Anne Rhodes (Jane) make their debut performances for the Society.
The cast said: “We have really enjoying reading the play and it has brought lots of laughs. We hope the audience will enjoy it too.”
The Society has been running since 1947 and chairman Janet Gisburn added: “Like all amateur dramatic societies we do need new blood.
“Not just from an acting perspective, but from a backstage and front of house point too. So if you would like to join us, please get in touch.”
The four night performance will run from Wednesday April 9th to Saturday 12th April and tickets will go on sale in March.
