Ossett Town will keep fighting for an Evo Stik Division One North play-offs place, insists manager Craig Elliott.
Ossett have emerged as late candidates for a top five finish and are eight points off a surprise play-offs place.
Town have built up a chance of making the end of the season lottery by winning eight league games out of their last ten and Elliott says his team will try their best.
“Realistically we know we have to get a bit of luck and teams to drop points,” he said.
“However, it is nice to be in a position with 14 games to go to still have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.
“It keeps everyone going and it is better than sitting back and waiting for the season to end without having anything to play for.
“I’ve always said that we want to be a comfortable top half team and we’re still on track for that. That’s the main aim. Anything more is brilliant.”
The weather is currently against them, but Ossett are due to travel to leaders Warrington Town tomorrow.
Last time out Ossett completed the double over promotion-chasing Curzon Ashton and Elliott is under no illusions about the trip to Warrington.
“We have already had some good battles with Warrington already this year in the FA Cup and in a league match,” he said.
“They have all been tight affairs and they’re doing brilliant with a great squad. They also have a good manager in Shaun Reid.
“I fully expect another tough game. It has been a difficult period for us because we have played Farsley away, Curzon away and now Warrington away in our three games.
“It is another good test and we’ll go there and give it our best shot.”
