Jon Miles will manage Glasshoughton Welfare for the rest of the season

Jon Miles has been placed in charge of Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Glasshoughton Welfare until the end of the season.
Reserve Team manager Miles has held the fort for the last seven days since Rob Hunter resigned and led the club to a win and a draw in his two matches in interim control.
Glasshoughton beat Liversedge last Tuesday and then Del Pollock’s late goal earned them a 1-1 draw at Armthorpe Welfare on Saturday.
Miles confirmed his intention to apply for the job following the Liversedge win and it is expected he will utilise local talent in the last ten games of the season – a manifesto he demonstrated in the Liversedge game when he signed five local players in time to play in the 2-0 victory.
The club also hope he will be able to fulfil their remit of being competitive in the Premier Division.
Miles is joined at the helm by his assistant Mark Kellett, father of Nostell Miners Welfare defender Blaine.
Glasshoughton have been considering their options since Hunter and assistant Mark Smitheringale tendered their shock resignations immediately after the 2-0 defeat to Parkgate eight days ago.
The club were expected to advertise for applications, but Miles’ positive impact has made them keep him in the dugout for the remainder of the campaign.
