Liam Schofield opened the scoring for Ossett Albion at Salford City
Ossett Albion’s hopes of pulling off the great escape remain alive after a remarkable 3-0 win at Salford which extended their unbeaten run to five Division One North matches.
Former AFC Emley left-back Liam Schofield put Ossett ahead with a speculative effort after just seven minutes and the day just got better and better for Richard Tracey’s side.
Midway through the first half, Kurtis Noble’s pass supplied winger Ryan Harrison with an opening and he scored with a cool finish.
Ossett held on comfortably and a Noble header hit the crossbar before Caldon Henson sealed the points in the last minute.
Albion are hot on the heels of Wakefield who were beaten 5-2 at Lancaster City.
But, the game was tighter than the score-line suggests as it was 2-2 with just ten minutes remaining.
An own goal put Wakefield ahead before Lancaster equalised and then gained the lead.
Wakefield lost goalkeeper Desmond Macorison to injury midway through the injury so midfielder Ross Hardaker had to take over in goal.
But surprisingly it was Wakefield who scored next with Joe Turfrey equalising. Wakefield were holding on until three goals in the last ten minutes.
Jimmy Eyles marked his return to Ossett Town with a headed goal in the 2-0 win over Clitheroe at Ingfield.
Chris Wood put Ossett into the lead and Eyles scored soon after in the 19th minute and that was enough for the three points.
Play-offs chasing Bamber Bridge won 2-1 at Harrogate Railway – Alex Metcalfe scored for Railway.
In Division One South, Scarborough lost 4-0 at Chasetown and Goole won 4-1 at Bedworth.
Stocksbridge Park Steels are officially relegated from the Premier Division after their 1-0 defeat at Trafford.
Frickley Athletic remain in danger as they lost 2-1 at Nantwich Town.
