A controversial last minute penalty secured minnows Eccleshill United the West Riding County Cup for the first ever time in their history.
Star player Marcus Edwards kept his cool to score the history-making spot kick and earn them a shock 1-0 win over Skrill North Harrogate Town.
The result denied Simon Weaver’s hopes of winning his first piece of silverware as Town boss.
Lee Duxbury’s Eccleshill gave as good as they got at Valley Parade, but goalkeeper Brendon Roslund still had to make several saves.
Harrogate were dealt a big blow with 20 minutes remaining when Weaver had already made his three allowed changes.
Substitute striker Chris Hall, the former Hollyoaks actor, had to be stretched off which caused a ten minute delay so Harrogate had to play the rest of the final with ten men.
Both teams were going all out for the win and Eccleshill and Harrogate had chances until the decisive moment.
Harrogate’s former Leeds United defender Matt Heath was deemed to have handled and Edwards stepped up to send Craig MacGilliivray the wrong way.
