Dave Merris has been reunited with John Reed after signing for Evo Stik Division One North side Ossett Town.
Highly-rated full-back Merris will combine playing duties with a coaching role at Ingfield.
Merris, who recently finished his second spell at Harrogate Town, previously played for Reed at Harrogate for two seasons between 2001 and 2003.
Merris was in Reed’s side that won the NPL Division One title at a canter in 2002.
The defender has also been a popular player at York City and Guiseley.
Merris told the Ossett Town official website: “This is a great opportunity for me, it’s a new challenge, one that I am very much looking forward to.
“It is my first coaching job too, I can’t think of anyone better to learn from than John Reed and Clive Freeman, it will be a fantastic experience for myself.
“I’ve been looking at the club’s results from last season when they finished eighth, I believe with the players John is looking to bring in, along with the core of the side already here there is no reason why we cannot be pushing for a spot in the play-offs.
“We know it will be a tough ask, there are some good clubs in this league.”
