Welsh Premier League side Gap Connah’s Quay of the Welsh Premier League are coming back to West Yorkshire next month.
Having played Pontefract and Goole during pre-season last year, the Nomads are returning and will play Tadcaster at Ings Lane ground on Friday August 1st (kick off 7.45pm) and Ossett Albion the following day at Dimple wells.
A press release said: “The Welsh Premier is a very strong league with its top three and National cup winners competing in the Champions League and the Europa leagues.
“Our league is subject to transfer windows and after a bright start that saw them third in October.
“But, a horrid run of injuries and suspensions saw 14 games without a win as a patched up and young side were no match for the likes of TNS , Bangor and Aberystwyth. January saw eight new signings settle quickly and put together a run that led to safety.
“The side coming to Yorkshire will be skippered by new signing George Horan, a Central defender who captained Chester FC for the past four seasons.
“New strikers Jamie Rainsford and Jay Colbeck. Rainsford signing from Marine after previously playing for Halifax whilst Colbeck joins from Wrexham.
“Already in the side are former England U-21 international and ex Port Vale , Crewe and Yeovil midfielder Gary Roberts .Luke Holden who played for Charlton and Wrexham and Welsh non league legend Ricky Evans.
“Evans who has played for no less than 10 of the leagues clubs has been settled at the Deeside Stadium for the past three years.
“Goalkeeper Terry McCormick was voted the leagues best and player manager Mark McGregor made over 400 football league appearances for Blackpool,Burnley,Wrexham and Port Vale.”
