Rossington Main chief Steven Brennan wants to guide his club to their highest ever finish

Steven Brennan is urging his Rossington Main players to continue their form from the end of last season in the forthcoming campaign.
Rossington finished 13th in the Toolstation NCEL Division One table, but ended the year as one of the form sides – quite an achievement considering that Brennan had replaced Steve Lodge last November.
Former Scarborough Athletic reserve team manager Brennan wants to build on that in 2015 and finish higher than Lodge’s club record of seventh-place from 2012.
He said: “I said to the club when I came in that I wanted to get our highest ever league position.
“That is the top six so if we can do that in the next couple of seasons then we have done really well.
“If you looked at our form last season I think we were top five at the end of the season so there is no reason why we can’t be looking to get in the top six.”
He added: “We beat Cleethorpes away last season and then two weeks later we got beat 3-1 at Hallam who were third bottom.
“In this division, every single team if you give them time, they punish you.
“We’ll take each game as it comes and see where we’re at.
“I think we’re in a good position and I think we’ll do well. We’ll see if we can get the club back into the FA Cup
“It’s going to be interesting, but if we stick together and play as we did in the second half of last season, we can do really well.”
Niall Gibb, Joe Hart and Tom Hyde are three departures from last season for Brennan, who has chosen to rely on a majority of young players in his side.
He added: “We’ve retained most of the squad from last year, barring two or three.
“Other than we have two or three good youngsters and still three or four to come back in.
“We’re looking good.
“We’ve started a development squad and it is for the future of the club.
“The under 16s can play in there and with the club not having a budget of such, it is important that if we’re struggling mid-season we can get the young lads involved.
“Overall we have a young side, but there’s a lot of local lads.”
