Ossett Albion’s pre-season campaign did not get off to the best of starts as Richard Tracey’s men lost 4-1 at Armthorpe Welfare.
The Evo Stik Division One North side did have a large squad out with plenty of trialists against their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division opponents.
Faces like striker David Brown, midfielder Craig Tonkinson and even manager Tracey were on show for Albion and they did take the lead in the match – which was played in three 30 minute periods because of the heat.
Ryan Harrison, who scored the goal that earned Albion their reprieve last season, struck after 12 minutes.
However, the game went downhill from there. Joe Lumsden, back from two years out injured, equalised on the half hour mark and Armthorpe never looked back.
A penalty awarded for handball straight on 48 minutes allowed Brad Johnston to put the home side in front.
Anthony Ryan and Adam Baskerville rounded off the win later on.
