Farsley AFC have signed former Huddersfield Town youngster Spencer Harris and Neil Parsley has high hopes for the centre-half.
Harris made his debut for Farsley in the 4-0 win at Glasshoughton Welfare earlier today.
Harris most recently played for Bradford (Park Avenue) in the Conference North and Parsley said: “He’s had a spell at Bradford, Buxton and he’s been in Australia.
“To be fair this is the fourth time I’ve tried to sign him.
“If the boy plays for a season or a season and half regularly because of his good ability, Spencer Harris could play at a higher level.
“I’m williing to give the opportunity to prove that.
“Because I’m willing to give him games, that’s attracted him to Farsley. “There was an opening there due to Paddy Miller’s departure and I think we have signed a more than able replacement for Paddy.
“Paddy had a good season for us last year. We shook hands on a deal, but Paddy decided to do other things and we feel Spencer can go play at a higher level with our help.”
Although Harris spent time in Australia, he does have plenty of Non League experience.
After leaving Huddersfield, Harris joined Ossett Town under Paul Lines in 2010 before moving onto Buxton and Avenue.
Parsley added: “He’s knows Lewis Nightingale from Huddersfield and Aaron Hardy “We’ve seen today that the boy can play and Speno will start the season off.
“Lewis Morgan will miss the first six games of the season due to disciplinary issues at Thackley so it will be between James Riley and Matt Dempsey to partner Speno.”
