John Reed claims he can’t believe that his new star striker Rob Bordman isn’t playing in the Football League.
Ossett Town got a glimpse of what Bordman can do when his incredible 45 yard free kick helped them beat a Bradford City X1 at Ingfield on Tuesday night.
The video has attracted over 10,000 hits on Ossett’s official website.
Bordman signed for Ossett earlier this month after deciding against joining fellow Evo Stik Division One North side Salford City.
Reed told Non League Yorkshire: “He’d agreed to sign for Salford, but didn’t want the travelling.
“He only trained with me once and after it he said to me how he loved how we did things and ‘can we do a deal’?
“He’s got everything. I look at him and think how is this kid not playing League football because he’s not only scoring goals, it’s how he holds things.
“He did one or two things against Bradford City where he played balls into space and they looked like bad balls, but he’s so advanced with his thinking, they weren’t.
“He brings a lot to the team.”
Bordman is one of a number of new faces to Ossett this summer.
Reed has still kept the bulk of the squad that challenged for the play-offs last season including captain Steven Jeff, who enjoyed a stint as caretaker manager, and popular goalkeeper Sam Dobbs.
Only two more signings are planned.
“I think we are very close (to completing the squad),” Reed added.
“I think we need two more and that’s why I had a look at the right back Matt (Kingston) from Ferriby.
“I’d take him now if I could.
“I’ve got to get him on loan along with Tim Taylor and I’m definitely going to try.”
