Worsbrough Bridge got the payday what manager Dave Mace hoped for as 177 people turned out to see his side’s 1-1 draw with a Chesterfield X1.
Worsbrough, who kick off the Toolstation NCEL Division One season at Lincoln Moorlands Railway in eight days’ time, played really well in front of a bumper crowd.
Chesterfield did take the lead through Kieron Thompson, but Worsbrough really took the game to their visitors.
Only the excellent goalkeeper Miles Wright was preventing them from equalising.
Brad Kerr, Adam Podmore and Julian Lawrence all had chances saved by Wright as time wore.
The breakthrough finally arrived with 15 minutes to go. Former Frickley Athletic youngster Kerr grabbed the leveller which Worsbrough throughly deserved.
