Barton Town Old Boys 7-0 Abbey Hey

Barton Town Old Boys FC made their way into the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup with an emphatic performance against Lancashire rivals Abbey Hey FC.
Scott Phillips scored possibly the quickest FA Cup goal of the day as he opened the scoring within the first two minutes and that set the tone for the day.
Phillips had a goal disallowed on 13 minutes but grabbed his second goal on 22 minutes when he got on the end of a Ryan Cooper pass.
On 31 minutes the game was put beyond Abbey Hey FC when a Rikki Paylor free kick was headed against the bar by captain Ash Dexter and Gareth Barlow slotted home the rebound.
With a 3-0 half time lead Barton had to dig in as Abbey Hey FC started the second half strongly and looked to get back into the game.
Barton had to wait until the 61 minute to increase their lead and it was again Phillips who bagged to make it a hat-trick in the FA Cup.
Two quick-fire goals on 69 and 71 minutes saw the game go beyond Abbey Hey FC, with Joel Sutton smashing in his first of the game and Nathan Smith scoring direct from a corner to make it 6-0.
On 83 minutes Phillips fired home his fourth goal of the game and Barton’s seventh to give them a deserved 7-0 victory.
With Phillips expecting his first child within the next few days this sets a happy theme for the Phillips household this week.
