Richard Tracey believed that Ossett Albion should have taken a point from their 2-1 defeat to Brighouse Town in the Evo Stik Division One North last night.
Ernest Boafo and Shaquille Clarke-Adams’ goals for Brighouse proved to be the difference for Brighouse, who held on during a nervy finish.
Kurtis Noble had scored to drag Ossett back into the game and Wes Milnes nearly equalised with a header.
Tracey told Non League Yorkshire: “I don’t feel it was a fair result.
“When you look in reflection, we hit the post at 0-0, bar at 2-1 down.
“We had the lions’ share of the game.
“They were time-wasting and begging for things off-the-bench so that suggests that we were on the front foot and deserved something out of the game.
“A draw would have been a fair result. If I said that we should have won the game then it would probably be unjust on Brighouse.”
He added: “We came straight after half-time and we had the kick-off, but within three or four minutes, the ball was in the back of our net and it is not good enough.
“There was no pressure on the ball and no tracking on the runners.
“The first goal was after we gave the ball away cheaply, but, having said that, it was far too easy for Boafo inside the area to turn and scuff his shot into the bottom corner.”
Brighouse’s style of play under Paul Quinn has won many plaudits over the last few years and they were without key striker Tom Matthews last night.
Tracey claims he knew exactly what to expect and says his side coped with their opposition.
“We know exactly what they have got,” he added.
“Danny Nadiole was here when I was a player so I know all about him.
“I’ll be quite honest and my personal opinion, the seven is a decent player and taking Matthews out of it, Boafo caused us problems tonight.
“We know them players as they have been around long enough so there wasn’t any surprises.
“I thought we handled them well.
“We played 70% of the game in their half, but, I wouldn’t say it didn’t suit them because they like to break quick.”
