Adam Priestley’s last-gasp strike earned Farsley AFC a 2-1 win over local rivals Ossett Town at Throstle Nest.
The win was the perfect response to Saturday’s humbling at Lancaster City in the Evo Stik Division One North.
Priestley was involved in the first goal as he was brought down by Ossett goalkeeper Brad Dixon in the penalty area.
Aaron Hardy converted the spot kick.
Ossett, who lost David Brown and Richard Patterson to injury in the first half, responded as Chris Ovington headed home Rob Bordman’s superb cross.
A draw was on the cards until Marcus Edwards’ shot was parried and Priestley was there to score.
Referee Matt McGrath was at the centre of controversy after giving a decision that secured Scarborough Athletic a dramatic 3-2 victory over Harrogate Railway.
Railway led twice through Nathan Cartman and Lamin Colley, but Gary Bradshaw and Jimmy Beadle ensured Scarborough were level going into the last ten minutes.
That’s when the game turned sour for Railway.
Thirkell’s challenge on Bradshaw looked outside the box and Jon Maloney was also covering, but McGrath gave a penalty and also bizarrely sent the defender off.
Beadle then made the blow worser by scoring the winner from 12 yards.
In Division One South, Goole cruised to a 3-1 win at Sheffield FC – Andy Gascoigne, Tyler Williams and James Cottingham scored.
Stocksbridge Park Steels’ season is up and running as Chris Hilton’s men beat Lincoln United 2-0.
Nathan Joynes and Will Senior struck in the opening 13 minutes and Steels could have easily added to their tally.

Handsworth Parramore comfortably won 3-0 at Maltby Main – Nicky Travis, Lee Whittington and Vill Powell found the net.
Thackley were trounced 5-1 at Staveley Miners Welfare. Goals from Jordan Eagers, Ryan Damms, Nathan Forbes-Swindells, Jack Watts and Ellis Wall blew Thackley away.
Parkgate lost 6-1 at Cleethorpes Town.
In Division One, Hallam lost 3-0 at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
There was also NCEL League Cup first round action.

Clipstone beat Hemsworth 4-2, Louth Town lost 3-1 at Selby Town, Yorkshire Amateur stormed to a 4-0 success over Hall Road Rangers and Penistone Church won 2-1 against Teversal.
