Kane Reece scored on his debut for Worsbrough Bridge last night, but, his new team were beaten 2-1 at home to AFC Mansfield Town.
Reece, who has moved from Worsbrough’s local rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce, gave Worsbrough a first half lead in the Toolstation NCEL Division One clash.
Young winger Reece has been with Aquaforce since the beginning of the club’s time in the NCEL, but, he has chosen to seek first team opportunities elsewhere.
Shaw Lane manager Craig Elliot saidt: “Kane is a young lad, 19-years of age and he just wants to play football.
“I couldn’t promise him that. I think he has left a little too early as I didn’t want to let him, it was his choice.
“I fully respect that the lad wants to play football.
“Kane’s left on good terms and I wished him all the best. We have said if he wants to come back in the future, he will be welcome back.
“I rate him a lot. He’s athletic and has a lot of talent. I wanted him to stay and learn off the established players, but, I’m sure he will go onto do well at Worsbrough.”
