Russ Eagle has set his Handsworth Parramore side an ambitious points target for this month.
Handsworth face a busy schedule in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division in September – starting tomorrow with a home game with Nostell Miners Welfare.
Handsworth are third in the table after four games which have seen them win three and draw another and Eagle told Non League Yorkshire: “It’s been going good at the moment, apart from the cup defeat.
“We’re building up to a big month. We have seven games and five of them are against teams who are going to be in the top six.
“It is a big month as we have to play Taddy, Heanor and Brid so we will see where we end up.
“I have set a target of 18 points out of 21 and we have got to pick them up.
“Last season we had games in hand, whereas teams like Brighouse, Tadcaster and Barton had the points on the board.
“I want us to get the points on board this season.”
Handsworth welcome a Nostell team which received a massive boost last week with the return of striker Danny Critchlow.
On the game, Eagle added: “I’m more than vary.
“We can’t treat them any differently to Taddy and Brid who we play next week.
“It’s our job to beat Nostell and we can’t treat them lightly because we have 38 weeks of pure graft.”
Eagle also hopes to have a new signing in place for the Nostell game and is aiming to add another player to his squad next week.
Handsworth are supporting Non League Day tomorrow and are running a ‘pay what you can afford’ promotion.
