Shaw Lane Aquaforce raised thousands for Weston Park Hospital last night when they played Sheffield Wednesday under 21s.
The match finished 3-3, but the poignant moment belonged to Shaw Lane’s chairman Craig Wood, who came on for the final two minutes and scored a last minute penalty.
Wood organised the match as a thank you to Weston Park.
Wood was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year and had to undergo intensive chemotherapy.
He was given the all-clear in June and he wanted to repaid the Hospital by raising a fortune for them from a charity football match.

Shaw Lane past and present turned out for him in the game that was refereed by Premier League official Robert Madley.
Franck Betra gave Sheffield the lead before current Bradford (Park Avenue) striker Danny Frost levelled the game.
A Mani Dieseruvwe penalty restored Wednesday’s one goal advantage.
Veteran Bruce Dyer made an appearance for Shaw Lane and he equalised the game at 2-2 during the second half.
Jake Ellam was the scorer of Wednesday’s third goal before the fitting finale.
Wood, a big Sheffield Wednesday fan, got his chance to score with the last kick of the game and he did by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
