Scarborough Athletic say Rudy Funk is “going nowhere” after an approach by AFC Mansfield for his services

Scarborough Athletic have issued a hands-off warning to AFC Mansfield over Rudy Funk.
Ambitious Mansfield approached Scarborough earlier today, asking for permission to speak to Funk, who lives close to their ground, about the vacant manager’s position.
Toolstation NCEL Division One side Mansfield also bizarrely made their attempt to lure Funk public by posting the news on Twitter – something which has angered Scarborough.
A Scarborough statement said: “Scarborough Athletic FC has this afternoon received an email from AFC Mansfield asking for permission to talk to our Manager Rudy Funk in connection with their vacant managerial position.
“Bizarrely, they also felt it would be helpful to ‘Tweet’ their intention just hours later without waiting for our response.
“Whilst we can understand the reasons why AFC Mansfield would like to secure his services, Rudy assures us that he has no knowledge of their approach and would like everyone to know that he remains committed to our club.
“As far as we are concerned Rudy is going nowhere; he has a job to do here.
“We do, of course, wish AFC Mansfield well in their search for an alternative manager.
“Our attention is now firmly on tomorrows game at Queensgate against Burscough, where we hope to build upon our solid start to the season.”
