Climbing the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table is the priority for Barton Town Old Boys.
Barton finally got their first points on the board on Wednesday night after winning 3-2 at Shaw Lane Aquaforce.
Barton had lost all four of their opening league games which had left them at the bottom of the Division.
Barton head to Pickering Town today and Dave Anderson admitted he was relieved that the victory finally arrived and his eyes are now looking upwards.
“We have just been wanting that win and now that we have got it, hopefully we can kick on,”he said.
“Last Saturday was a poor game against Liversedge. We missed chance after chance and a penalty, but we have more than made up for it and we want to move on.
“There has been pressure on us because had played four and lost four.
“I always had faith in the group because we have got a good group of 15 and 16 players.
“They have been wanting to put it right and we have to move on.
“We’re not getting carried away.
“We’re going to Pickering which will be difficult. It will be a battle, but the most important thing is that the monkey has been taken off our backs and we can on and start climbing the league.
“I’ve been here four years and it is the worst run we have been on because we have had nothing but progression.
“We’re behind schedule this season.
“If we can get into a situation where we’re getting two points a game, we have a chance of being in-and-around at Christmas.
“That’s where we want to be and we want to get on a run. We have eight games in October and that may take us nicely into the FA Vase.”
