Josh Greening loving life at Tadcaster

Josh Greening has scored 11 goals in four games for Tadcaster Albion

Forget Cristiano Ronaldo with his two hat-tricks in two games, Tadcaster Albion hotshot Josh Greening is the most dangerous goal-scorer in the world at the moment.
Not that he letting three trebles in a row and 11 goals in four games go to his head.
The glorious spree has helped Tadcaster top the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table and taken his own former Premier League player brother Jonathan off the headlines.
“I’m not sure about three hat-tricks in three games, but I remember when I was at Brid, I scored something daft like ten in four games,” the younger Greening said.
“It’s nice to be in form, but I don’t care who scores the goal if we’re winning games – simple as that.”
His previous golden spell came two years ago for Bridlington Town when he scored a hat-trick against a poor Lincoln Moorlands Railway side.
The sides met again the following week and Greening showed no mercy by plundering five in a 9-0 rout.
He ended that season with another five-goal haul in the East Riding Senior Cup final at the KC Stadium.
Greening, 22, is a new face to Tadcaster having signed for the club in the summer after leaving Pickering Town.
He has 15 goals in total and is top of the goal-scorers chart. He hit the decisive goal in the win at Thackley last night and he’s not ducking the question of what Taddy can achieve this season.
“I think we can win it, simple as that,” he said.
“We have won a number of games on the bounce now and that shows we are a consistent team.
“We have a lot of quality going forward and at the same time the back four have been tremendous.
“I think we have a great squad.
“Tadcaster are on the up and all the lads are good lads and there is no-one I don’t get on with.
“The owners (i2i Sports) are great people and Marshy (Paul Marshall) the gaffer is a top man and I’m really enjoying my football which is the main thing.”

Josh Greening believes Tadcaster Albion can win the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title

Brothers in arms: Jonathan Greening, Taddy bear and Josh Greening after Tadcaster’s 6-0 win over Maltby Main on Saturday.

His remarkable form has been slightly over-shadowed by the recruitment of his famous older brother.
The announcement which was made last Thursday night had column inches in national newspapers and the club have appeared on BBC Radio Five and Talksport.
Even Greening was surprised by the reaction ahead of the 6-0 victory over Maltby Main on Saturday.
“I was a bit taken aback by the interest in the club,” he said.
“Funnily enough I got together with my family a week last Saturday and Jon actually joked about how he love to play with me.
“I never thought I would get the chance so it is really nice.
“It’s really good for the club – that’s the main thing.
“It is a great club and hopefully more fans get attracted to come out watch us play because I also think we play a good brand of football as well.”
If he was surprised by the coverage, he wasn’t expecting to be joined at the club by his brother.
He said: “I’m doing my PGCE and I came out of a lecture and I had two missed calls off and he only ever rings me if it is something important.
“I quickly looked on my Whatsapp messenger and said something along the lines of ‘how you doing team-mate’.
“I thought he joking around and I rang him back and he was deadly serious.
“It was quality playing with him.
“I’ve played with him recreationally back at home in pre-season and he’s amazing and he has a fantastic career.”
The pair again played last night and for the younger Greening, the question is whether he can carry on his good form now he is a marked man.
He says, “I suppose you have to find a way to work around that.
“Good players work around that and I’m hoping I can do that.
“I’m used to being kicked to pieces in this league so it is nothing new to me.”
Liversedge provide the next test for Taddy on Saturday at i2i Stadium.
