Steve Toyne has resigned as manager of Hallam after a disastrous start to the Toolstation NCEL Division One season.
Hallam have lost all nine of their opening fixtures, leaving them at the foot of the table – Toyne’s only win came in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
His departure comes as no surprise as in August, Toyne told the Sheffield Telegraph: “I told them (Hallam officials) if I don’t have a modicum of success they wont have to sack me, I’ll stand down and disappear into the sunset!”
Chairman Chris Taylor said “The club would like to thank Steve for his dedication and effort whilst at Sandygate and it is unfortunate that the results have not reflected this.
“He is a credit to local grassroots football and we should not forget the success he has enjoyed over the years.”
Kev Staniland will take temporary charge of the first team duties until a new manager is appointed.
