Farsley AFC coasted into the second round of the West Riding County Cup with a 7-0 demolition of struggling Glasshoughton Welfare at Leeds Road.
The Evo Stik Division One North high-flyers were in complete control of the tie against Toolstation NCEL Premier Division opposition and were never troubled in a totally one-sided affair.
The goals were spread around with strikes from Aiden Savory, Adam Priestley (2), Aodhan Brownlee (2), Marcus Edwards and substitute Ross Daly.
Neil Parsley told Non League Yorkshire: “We’re pleased to progress.
“There were a lot of changes made for different reasons.
“We ticked every box. The defence kept a clean sheet, the midfield kept the ball well and the strikers worked hard.
“There was a great attitude from the senior lads in terms of helping the young lads get through the game.
“I felt in control (of the game) from half past six when we turned up because I trust these boys as they are a fantastic group of the players to work with.
“It was a 1-0 for a long period of time and the Glasshoughton goalkeeper did make a series of telling saves in the first half.
“We scored two goals late in the first half which put the game to bed.
“We had a good shape about us and we passed the ball with vigour in the second half and opened Glasshoughton up at will.”
The victory books a second round with Eccleshill United, who will meet up with Marcus Edwards for the first time since his departure from Plumpton Park.
Edwards, also an ex-Glasshoughton player, was the main man for Farsley on their path to victory in a game where the writing was on the wall for Glasshoughton from the very start.
His blistering run inside the opening 90 seconds gave Savory an easy opening for the first goal.
Glasshoughton owe highly-rated young goalkeeper Josh Archer a debt of gratitude after a spree of excellent saves to keep wolves at bay in the first half.
Priestley was denied multiple times and so was Lewis Morgan.
The bough was broken towards the end of the opening half. Priestley’s turn allowed the chance to fire a smart finish into the bottom corner.
The Gibraltar International then played as excellent dummy to open the door for Brownlee to score and put the game beyond doubt – if there ever was any.
The second half began in the worse possible fashion for Glasshoughton.
A low finish by Priestley added the fourth and Edwards then his deserved goal with a cute finish.
Glasshoughton’s defence looked shaky every time Farsley went forward and Jon Miles’ were lucky the score-line was not even worser.
Edwards was involved again for the sixth goal on 75 minutes. His run presented the opportunity for Brownlee to score his second of the night with a simple tap-in.
Farsley completed the rout in the last few minutes with Edwards breaking clear and passing to Daly, who smashed the ball home from close range.
