Athersley Recreation winger Kieran Scargill has become the latest player to be hit by the Northern Counties East League’s 112 day ban ruling.
If a player received in excess of 112 days’ suspension, or ten matches in match based discipline, in a period of two years or less from the date of the first offence then he is subject to a 112 day ban.
Armthorpe Welfare captain Craig Morley and former Glasshoughton Welfare striker Darrell Young have been recent recipients of the suspension.
Athersley manager Pete Goodlad said in a statement: “Kieran Scargill has received a 112 day suspension from the NCEL League due to his poor disciplinary record over the past 2 seasons.
“He is a talented player and will be sorely missed but only has himself to blame.
“This will now give other players a chance and someone will have to step up to the mark.
“The ban only affects the NCEL league and will still be ok to play in any other league format or competition.”
Athersley expect Scargill to be available for first team action from the 15th February.
