Phil Harding wants Yorkshire Amateur to do the city of Leeds proud in the FA Vase tomorrow.
The Ammers are the only Leeds-based club still flying the flag for the city in the Vase and they face a tough test at North West Counties Premier Division side St Helens Town.
The first round tie marks Ammers’ first appearance at this stage for only the second time in ten years.
The Ammers’ recent form in Toolstation NCEL Division One has been excellent. Harding’s men have risen to tenth and have the sixth-best defensive record in the league.
Harding told Non League Yorkshire: “It is the club’s biggest game in a few years and certainly the biggest since we (Harding and joint manager and chairman Lincoln Richards) took over last summer.
“I hope we repeat some of recent performances, especially the Billingham performance in the last round.
“Some of the recent results like the wins over Pontefract, Billingham and Emley, who are top of the league, have been brilliant.
“Since the Knaresborough game we have got our players back injuries. Joel Hughes and Craig Heard when they play together upfront, most of the time they are unplayable.
“We banked £850 from the last round and it would be great to win £900 from this round.
“We will go there and respect St Helens, but we don’t fear them.
“Anything can happen in a cup game and I just hope that we make the club and the city of Leeds proud tomorrow.”
