Tadcaster Albion booked a West Riding County Cup quarter-final tie with Selby Town, but they left it late in the 3-1 win over Liversedge at i2i Sports Stadium.
Toolstation NCEL Premier Division rivals Liversedge gave Taddy a huge fright in the second round clash.
Alan Colquhoun’s men led for over 70 minutes until three late goals guided the home side through.
A number of teams have played weakened sides in the County Cup this season, but both Taddy and Liversedge were taking the game seriously.
Paul Marshall’s team-sheet reflected this. Most of the big guns like the Greening brothers, Jonathan and Josh, were out there along with his usual back four.
The visitors weren’t going to be a walkover though, as the first 70 minutes showed.
Ex-Taddy forward Kieron Corley’s superb 25-yard strike found the top corner inside the opening three minutes to put ‘Sedge ahead.
Corley, who played for Glasshoughton last season, almost scored again moments later when Tom Morgan made an excellent save.
Another former Tadcaster player Andy Sunley was excellent in midfield and he kept supplying the ball to the dangerous front three of Corley, Andy Wood and Eli Hey.
Hey was the next player to go close for ‘Sedge with a curling effort which flew just wide of the post.

Taddy started to up the ante in the second half.
Both Greening brothers went close, as did Calum Ward.
Liversedge’s quality goalkeeper Sam Dobbs made the save of the match by palming Josh Greening’s long range attempt away from goal.
The same player provided the cross for the equaliser. His in-swinging free kick from the right alluded everyone apart from substitute George Bissett, a makeshift striker, who was able to nod the ball past the onrushing Dobbs.
Extra-time appeared to be on the cards until there was late intervention.
Taddy were pushing hard for the decisive goal and a string of corners ended with a Josh Greening cross being converted home by Andy Milne at the back-post.
The third goal was harsh on Liversedge.
Tadcaster caught their opponents out on the counter-attack with Ward racing away.
Ward was adjudged to have been brought down by Ryan Waugh and a penalty was awarded.
Ward smashed the spot kick into the top corner to seal his side’s win.
Liversedge have a chance to get revenge when they welcome Taddy to Clayborn in the league on Saturday.
