Paul Marshall believes team-spirit has been a key to Tadcaster’s success this season

Paul Marshall believes team spirit has helped guide Tadcaster Albion to the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table.
Promotion-chasing Tadcaster have been the league leaders since the end of September and Marshall’s men have only lost two league games all season.
Taddy have won the rest of their matches and Marshall believes he has found the right balance of players.
Since the start of the season, Marshall has recruited extensively and he said: “It is work in process.
“We have integrated a lot of players into the squad. When you look, different ‘keeper, different left-back, Andy Milne, Jono Greening, Josh Greening, Tom Claisse, David Brown – that’s seven straightaway I can think of there.
“We have a great group of lads. It has taken a while to get the right set.
“Sometimes you have to ship a couple out to bring a couple in who are right for the club and right for the changing room.
“That’s what we have got at the moment. We have a great changing room. They have gelled together straightaway.
“That’s what is helping us get through games – a bit of character and they are all working for each other.
“Team spirit has been a massive help to us…We have shown the side of us that we can dig in as well as pass teams off the field.”
Tadcaster make the trip to Liversedge – just days since their West Riding County Cup victory over Alan Colquhoun’s men.
Carl Stewart is rated as 50/50, while club captain Nick Thompson is ruled out.
Marshall added: “They will want to get revenge. Alan sets his teams out really well.
“If they had taken a couple more chances in the first half it would have been game over.
“I always thought we would win the second half because they had put so much effort in during the first half that they would tire and they did.
“We were awful in the first half.
“To be fair to Liversedge, they played really well.
“An old player, Kieron Corley, got a wonder goal to start with, but it was down to our stupid mistake and you can’t give Kezza a chance.
“He shoots from anywhere. I’ve seen him do it loads of times. I mentioned it to Carl Stewart on the way down, but I forgot to tell the players that!”
