Ossett Town have signed Garforth Town midfielder Sam Akeroyd.
Evo Stik Division One North side Ossett have swooped to recruit the former Harrogate Railway player after just over a year at Wheatley Park.
Akeroyd immediately made himself a popular figure at Garforth when he scored a spectacular goal against Winsford in the FA Vase on his debut.
He went onto be a key player in Graham Nicholas’ side and will be also be remembered for his winning goal at Thackley earlier this year.
Garforth chairman Brian Close said: “We’re sad to lose Sam as he was a popular player at the club.
“He was a hard-working player for us and we wish him all the best at Ossett.”
Ossett have also decided to let reserve player Tom Smith sign first team forms today.
In other news, Bradford Park Avenue are recognising the lack of Football League matches on Saturday by offering reduced admission of £5 on production of any season ticket of any other club.
Leeds United or Huddersfield Town are without games this weekend and FC Halifax are playing Sunday so Avenue are trying to cash in with their offer for Saturday’s Conference North fixture against Solihull Moors at Horsfall Stadium.
