Peter Duffield is urging his players to “enjoy” the occasion as Handsworth Parramore prepare to ‘travel’ to tenants Worksop Town.
Sandy Lane landlords Parramore will play Worksop for the first ever time in a league match tomorrow in the most riveting Toolstation NCEL Premier Division fixture of the day.
A bumper crowd of up to 500 people are expected to converge on Sandy Lane and Duffield says his team will handle the occasion.
He told Non League Yorkshire: “It is a local derby on the same pitch, it means everything for both teams.
“It means a lot of pride. But we will know more about ourselves after the game.
“I think there will be lot of interest in the game because they get 300 or 400 for a home game.
“Everybody knows that we want to go back to Sheffield and that our long term future isn’t at Worksop.
“Until we go back to Sheffield we are not going to be able to compete with these clubs in way of support.
“We’re going to massively outnumbered, but we have to enjoy it. We’ll have no fears, but we can’t under-estimate that Worksop are a very good footballing side.
“Hopefully it will be a good game of football. We’re improving and getting better.”
Duffield is still waiting for his first league win as Handsworth boss since his appointment last month.
Parramore have won their last two games, but they have been Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup and NCEL League Cup matches.
Duffield is confident the win will come and admits that whilst he hasn’t given up on the title, he is preparing for next season.
The Parramore chief has made several headlining signings recently such as Stocksbridge striker Nathan Joynes and Belper midfielder Gaz Davies.
He added: “It is frustrating (that we are yet to win in the league), but we are here for a long time.
“We have changed a lot of personnel so it is going to take time, we know that.
“We haven’t written this season off, but it is very difficult. It is hard to write a season off in November, but with only one going up, it is extremely difficult.
“What we’re trying to do is build for this season and have a go next season.
“We hope to be as strong as we possibly can be (by the end of the season), but the players need to know that this level isn’t easy.”
