Shaw Lane Aquaforce’s memorable victory over Runcorn Linnets in the last round ranks as their greatest win.
Now Craig Elliott admits Aquaforce have to reach even higher levels if they want to progress to the FA Vase third round.
Shaw Lane will travel to 2012 and 2014 runners-up West Auckland Town, who are joint favourites to win the whole competition.
Even the bookies have written Shaw Lane off tomorrow and Elliott said: “For this club with its short history, it is the biggest game they have ever had.
“West Auckland got to the final last year and I believe they are the favourites to win it.
“We’re also away which adds to the test. We have nothing to lose.
“We’re the underdogs and it is not often that we say that about us. We’re usually the favourites in every game we go into.
“It is a good game for us to go into and give it our best shot.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about these North East teams and I’ve experienced it playing against the Darlingtons in the Evo Stik.
“They’re meant to be top draw.”
Shaw Lane are ranked 40/1 to win the Vase, while Auckland are 8/1.
