Harrogate Railway remain on fire after a sixth straight victory following a 1-0 success at Lancaster City.

Adam Baker’s first half goal was all Harrogate needed in the Evo Stik Division One North encounter at the Giant Axe.

Railway, who have scored in every single game this season, resolutely held their nerve to record a memorable win.

Railway boss Billy Miller said: “It was a hard-fought win.

“When you look, the 1-0 win at Lancaster was just as pleasing as the previous two results at home.

“The fact we only scored the one goal, the outcome is still the same.

“Lancaster is a difficult place to go and it is one of my favourite grounds in the whole of the league.

“They are normally a very good side and that proved in the latter stages of the second half when they put us under a lot of pressure.

“I thought that the fact the defence stood firm is just as good as the forwards scoring.”

A defensive mistake allowed Baker possession of the ball and he rattled the ball home from a good position.

Malachi Farquharson headed wide in the second half and Nathan Cartman should have been awarded a penalty.

Lancaster came strong for the finale. Darren Peacock’s side hit the crossbar and put the Railway defence and goalkeeper Tom Goodwin under pressure.

But Miller’s men held on.
