Talented midfielder Max Leonard is back playing for AFC Emley and pledged his immediate future to Darren Hepworth’s side.
Leonard was a key player for leaders Emley in the opening two months of the Toolstation NCEL Division One and his form earned him a move to Frickley Athletic.
However, he has chosen to return to the Welfare Ground – making his return in the 3-1 defeat to Yorkshire Amateur today.
He missed a penalty in the game, but that didn’t overshadow Hepworth’s delight at his return.
“It is a huge boost for us and it will help us push on during the second half of the season,” Hepworth said.
“It didn’t go our or Max’s way today and the result or performance is no reflection on Max.
“We’re delighted to have him back. He’s given everyone a lift and he’s a great lad to have around.
“His footballing ability speaks for itself. He is always looking to do positive things in the game so it is great we have him back.
“We wanted Max to go and be successful at a higher level, like we do with all our players.
“For whatever reason it hasn’t quite clicked for Max (at Frickley). He’s stayed in touch with us and he always knew that perhaps things didn’t work out for him that he was welcome back.
“He’s committed to us for the rest of the season.”
