John Reed has moved to boost his chances of returning Ossett Town to winning ways by signing Lewis Clarkson on loan from Bradford City.

Ossett are struggling in Evo Stik Division One North and Reed admitted after the Boxing Day defeat to Ossett Albion that his side are in a relegation battle.

Town have won just twice in eleven league games.

Clarkson is likely to make his debut tomorrow at Spennymoor Town and will be available to Ossett for the whole of January.

The forward is known to Reed because of his spell at Scarborough Athletic last season. Clarkson’s form was so good that it earned him a move to Bradford.

John Reed told Ossett’s official website: “This is a great opportunity for the lad to find some form, if he does that then I have no doubt he will be back in the Bradford City first team squad before the season is over.

“Lewis is very fast, as strong as an ox and he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

“I am confident he will help us as we look to move up the table in the coming weeks.”

Ossett also have Steven Jeff, Richard Patterson and Calum Hepworth back from suspension at Spennymoor.
