Lewis Morgan has kept up the tradition of members of his family playing for Harrogate Railway after leaving Farsley AFC.

Morgan follows in the footsteps of his brothers Rob and Matty of playing for Railway and also their dad Dave, who was once the Harrogate manager.

As a watching youngster, Morgan is on pictures from their 2007 FA Cup second round tie with Mansfield as his two brothers were playing in the famous match.

Former Thackley centre-half Morgan has found first team opportunities limited at Farsley this season and he replaces Mike Morris, who broke his leg on New Year’s Day at Throstle Nest.

Railway boss Billy Miller said: “The problem we had was deciding whether to put Dan Thirkell back in at centre-half.

“It was a difficult one because he has been playing well in centre-midfield, but now Lewis has come to us.

“A massive thank-you goes out to Farsley because they have been first class this week.

“Pars (Neil Parsley) and Jacko (Mark Jackson) have been brilliant in releasing his registration.

“It is how things should be done, rather than going behind people’s backs.”

Morgan is in the squad for Railway’s Evo Stik Division One North trip to Warrington Town tomorrow.

Harrogate have released James Coupland, who is signing for Goole.
