Paul Lines is refusing to hit the panic button on Nostell Miners Welfare’s season.
Lines is leading a rescue mission to save bottom-placed Nostell from relegation from the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
The Nostell chief has only taken charge of three league games since his whirlwind appointment back in November and he insists there is a very long way to go.
Weather-permitting Nostell are due to host fellow strugglers Thackley tomorrow and Lines said: “It is another must-win game because they’re in and around us.
“It is imperative to get points on the board straight away, but there is 19 games to go and there is a lot of points to play for.
“There’s no panic whatsoever. I think once as we get one win under our belts, I think we will be off and running and be alright.”
Postponements and free weekends have hindered Lines’ attempt to put a winning team together.
Henry Owen and Jack Fisher made their debuts last weekend in forced circumstances after just one training session.
It has made it difficult for Lines to gel his new-look team together and that show in the 4-1 defeat to Maltby.
Lines added: “I thought we would have come out brighter in the second half, especially with the wind going towards the bottom goal.
“We played like three separate parts and the forwards, the midfield and the defenders weren’t a unit for some reason so we will have to work hard on that.
“The Barton game (in December) spoiled me really because we played really well and looked like a team.
“We were disjointed on Saturday.
“It is difficult because the lads want continuity because they want to train and play at the weekend.
“Ideally we want to be playing.
“It has been hard bringing players in and getting them to settle in.”
Lines has recruited midfielder James Davies from Garforth Town.
Youngster Davies started the season in the Ossett Town first team before moving to Hemsworth and then Garforth.
He hadn’t been involved at Garforth recently.
