Four members of the Class of ’92 watched on as nine man Salford City went down 3-1 at Brighouse Town.
Two second half goals from Ernest Boafo and Ryan Hall upset the applecart in the Evo Stik Division One North and condemned Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley to their first Salford defeat.
Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers Gary and Phil were stood helpless in the stand as Salford struggled to cope with Brighouse’s dangerous attack.
Brighouse captain Leon Henry took advantage of poor defending to put Paul Quinn’s men in front after 20 minutes.
Brighouse goalkeeper Jordan Porter was sprung into action as Salford upped their game towards the end of the first half.
Salford had a series of chances before experienced frontman Gareth Seddon was able to score with a cool finish.
The game began to swing back in Brighouse’s favour at the start of the second half.
Salford’s Lee Neville was sent off for a two-footed lunge and soon after Brighouse were awarded a penalty which Boafo converted.
The bumper crowd were then treated to the goal of the game.
Highly-rated Hall broke through and he lifted the ball over the on-rushing Zack Hibbert to put the game beyond Salford’s reach.
Salford’s misery was completed in the dying minute when Jason Jarrett handled and was shown his yellow card.
