Duncan Bray admits that the Toolstation NCE League Cup fourth round tie with Clipstone isn’t on the list of priorities for Pontefract Collieries.
Pontefract will meet fellow Division One promotion-chasers Clipstone at Beechnut Lane tomorrow night (Wednesday), weather-permitting.
Collieries have an eighteen man squad and cannot any further injuries and suspensions.
Joint manager Bray said: “It wouldn’t even get a rank in the importance ladder.
“I wish we weren’t in the cup because it is a distraction. It is a game we want to win, but I have no real passion towards it.
“I think if you’re a mid-table side it is a chance of a little bit of glory and attention. We’re fighting for the league and we haven’t got a big enough squad to be fighting on the cup front.
“The cup is our focus – simple as.
“If we win 3-0 great, if we lose 3-0 so what.
“I think if we had no chance of winning the league then I would be going all guns out and be desperate to get some cup glory.
“If we win the game and get three or one player injured then it would be a bad result.”
Craig Robinson and experienced defender Phil Lindley are suspended.
