Ambitious Hull United have signed former Hull City legend Mark Greaves.
The Humber Premier League outfit, who have applied for promotion to the Toolstation NCEL Division One for next season, announced the signing of Greaves, 40, who last played football for North Ferriby United in 2011.
He joins two other former Hull City players as manager Curtis Woodhouse unveiled Ian Ashbee as his player-assistant just 2 weeks ago.
Greaves played for Hull City between 1996 and 2002, making over 200 league appearances.
His talents were noticed in local football by the Tigers and being instrumental in Brigg Town’s FA Vase victory in 1996.
After the Tigers, Greaves joined Boston United, adding 150 more league games to his impressive record.
He then moved on to York City, and making his second Wembley appearance, captaining the side to an unfortunate 2-0 FA Trophy Final defeat to Stevenage in 2009.
Greaves saw out his career with spells at Gainsborough and North Ferriby, but announced tonight he will return to the game.
Manager Woodhouse said: “It’s another fantastic signing for the football club. Mark is a natural leader and we have a very young team that I feel just needed bolstering with some much needed experience.
“Mark is somebody who the younger players can look to guidance to help us over the line and help us progress from the Humber Premier League.”
Greaves is expected to make his debut in Saturday’s huge game against league leaders Sculcoates Amatuers.
