Tadcaster Albion have added Lewis Clarkson to their squad in time for the FA Vase tie at AFC Mansfield

Rudy Funk can add one more name to his list of player reunions on Saturday as Lewis Clarkson has signed for Tadcaster Albion.

Clarkson is likely to make his Tadcaster debut in the huge FA Vase fifth round tie at AFC Mansfield on Saturday.

Former Hull City youngster Clarkson, who played on loan at Ossett Town last month, was released by Bradford City earlier this week.

The striker set the world alight playing for Scarborough Athletic last season and his form earned him a move to Bradford.

Tadcaster chairman Matt Gore said: “We are absolutely delighted to have signed Lewis.

“We’ve heard a lot of great things about him. Not just from people in the professional game, but also from our own players who played with him at Scarborough.

“Everyone has said the same: ‘If he’s available, you absolutely must sign him’

“He was superb in training tonight and looked very sharp.

“We’ve told him about everything we’re trying to build here at Tadcaster and he wants to be a part of it.

“We hope he’ll stay with us for a long time!”

Clarkson takes Carl Stewart in the side for the trip to Mansfield as the latter starts his three match ban for his red card for violent conduct in the previous round clash with Brocton.

The tie is Tadcaster’s biggest game in nearly 30 years and the club are taking three coaches full of supporters with them.
