Harrogate Railway bowed out of the Doodson Sports Cup following a 3-1 defeat at Ramsbottom United in the quarter-finals tie.
Harrogate were mostly hurt by Ramsbottom’s Donal McDermott, who only signed for the Evo Stik Premier Division on the afternoon of the game.
He skipped past two Rail’ defenders before slotting home from the edge of the penalty area to put Ramsbottom ahead on the half-hour mark.
McDermott was then brought down for the penalty which Lee Pugh converted.
Rail’ hit back through Jerry Yates, who scored for his second game running since his arrival at Station View last week.
Railway threw everything at Ramsbottom during the second half as they tried to level.
But, Ramsbottom were able to hold on and even nick a third goal right at the end when Tom Hartley managed to lob Harrogate goalkeeper Tom Goodwin.
